Butalbital comes in oral tablet or capsule form. The recommended dosage is one or two tablets every four to six hours. You should not go over six tablets within a 24 hour period unless specifically prescribed by your doctor. Symptoms of Butalbital overdose, whether or not combined with alcohol and other CNS depressants, may include breathing difficulties, confusion, extreme weakness, hallucination, lack of coordination, severe drowsiness, slurred speech, vomiting with blood and unusually slow heartbeat. Seek emergency medical attention at once.
If you have recently taken monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), the side effects can be dangerous.
