Safety Precautions

If you have previously experienced allergic reactions upon taking Allegra, are pregnant or are breastfeeding, it is important to inform your doctor during your check-up. You may be advised to take another drug instead or maybe given advice on how you can still use Allegra. The effects of the drug on the unborn child and on breast milk are not known. Your doctor should be able to determine whether it is safe for you to take the drug. Also inform your doctor if you have any problems with your heart, liver or kidneys. You may be advised not to take the drug or to take it but in smaller doses.

Missed Dose

If you have been advised to use the drug, take note of any missed dose. Immediately take a tablet once you remember that you have missed a dose. However, do not take two doses too close to each other.

Side Effects

Side effects rarely occur after a dose of Allegra. However, you should still be on the lookout for symptoms of an allergic reaction. You know when you are experiencing such a reaction if you feel a closing of the throat, difficulty in breathing, swelling of the lips and other usual effects. If you are experiencing serious side effects, immediately contact your doctor.

Drug Storage

Allegra tablets or capsules should be stored in an area away from direct heat or moisture.

In Case of Overdose

Immediately call the hospital in case of an overdose. Signs of an overdose are dry mouth, dizziness and drowsiness. You may decide not to wait for symptoms to arise once you realize that you have taken more than is advised.

Other Information

Inform your doctor about other drugs you are taking, especially blood pressure drugs, adrenaline-like drugs, digoxin, MAO inhibitors, antihistamines and decongestants. Do not take Allegra when about to take an allergy test.
